XUP Banking & Embedded Payments

As the founding product designer at XUP, I shaped the end-to-end UX and UI for a unified banking and payments platform built to replace fragmented, legacy solutions with a modern, scalable experience. My role included defining the product vision, establishing the design system, and creating intuitive workflows across onboarding, merchant management, data visualization, and embedded financial services—ultimately enabling banks and partners to deliver faster, clearer, and more user-friendly digital experiences.
Grounded in user research and iterative prototyping, the platform transformed highly technical banking and payment processes into streamlined, user-friendly experiences for both merchants and financial institutions. By aligning interaction design with operational needs, XUP enabled banks to onboard merchants faster, visualize financial data more clearly, and manage payment operations with greater efficiency and transparency.
KeyBank acquired XUP in 2021 for an excess of $25M. Since then, the platform has supported KeyBank in processing over $20 billion in annual card volume, nearly $200 million in card transactions, and supports over 37,000 processing solutions, while helping nearly 9,000 merchants achieve PCI compliance. These results highlight the impact of a cohesive, design-led product strategy—driving scale, improving customer experiences, and creating measurable business value for one of the nation’s largest financial institutions.
